Esta obra representa la evolución de los puntos de vista sobre el sistema político en el que vive el artista. Fue construida apresuradamente y contiene contradicciones que, si no se abordan, han provocado grandes lagunas en la aplicación de los principios que se pretendía expresar. El artista afirma que: “Mis puntos de vista han pasado de la creencia de que el sistema puede remediarse a la creencia de que solo el desmantelamiento de él puede traer alivio.”
This is an intentionally, hastily crocheted flag of the U.S. The safety pins represent the stars in the flag and they are coming undone. There are holes in the flag of the body which indicate it is being eaten by moths, and the frame is disproportionate and incomplete.
This flag represents the evolution of my views of the political system under which I live. It was hastily constructed and contains contradictions which being unaddressed have led to gaping holes in the application of the principles it was intended to express; my views have shifted from the belief that the system can be remediated to a belief that only the dismantling of it can bring relief.
